The Best Destination Wedding Venue in the Florida Keys

My husband and I got married at Largo Resort on August 6, 2022 where we had the Beachy Boho Destination Wedding of my dreams! I may be a little bit biased, but I truly believe Largo Resort is the best destination wedding venue in the Florida Keys. If the pictures alone aren’t enough to convince you, then let me give you 5 reasons why.

1. Location

Largo Resort is located in Key Largo, Florida, which is the first and northernmost of the Florida Keys. Having a destination wedding means that most guests will be traveling from out of town. Key Largo is just an hour drive from Miami International Airport, making it a relatively easy destination to travel to.

Key Largo is a popular destination for outdoor and water activities, especially snorkeling and diving. It is home to the world’s largest artificial reef at John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park, which is only 1 mile down the road from Largo Resort! When my husband and I were first visiting Largo Resort, we rode bicycles from the resort to the park to explore.

2. Accommodations

I think my favorite thing about Largo Resort is the option to do a resort buyout. This means that during your wedding weekend, you have full exclusivity to the entire property for you and your guests! Unlike other destination wedding venues, you have total privacy. You don’t have to worry about sharing amenity spaces or interacting with anyone other than your guests.

Largo Resort features 6 private bungalow-style suites that our families were able to stay in for the weekend. Each bungalow has a bedroom with a king-sized bed and private bathroom, and a living room area with a murphy-style queen-sized bed and another full bathroom. The bungalows are so cute and comfy and all include a mini fridge, Nespresso machine, and microwave. It was so nice having our families close and getting to spend quality time with everyone during our wedding weekend.

Largo Resort also has a main house, which is where I stayed all weekend. The main house has 3 private bedrooms each with their own bathroom. My maid of honor stayed with me in the master bedroom up until the wedding night when my husband could finally have me! My parents and my brother and his wife stayed in the other 2 rooms in the main house. The main house also has a huge living area room with views of the water, which is where I spent my wedding day getting ready with all my girls.

Dolphin Point Villas

In addition to the on-site accommodations, Largo Resort has a sister property, Dolphin Point Villas, for additional villas and suites. Our entire wedding party booked out Dolphin Point Villas and stayed there for the weekend. It was very convenient as Dolphin Point is located right next door. Literally, it’s 0.3 miles from Largo Resort and about a 5 minute walk. It was a relief to know that we didn’t have to worry about anyone driving anywhere after our wedding – and we didn’t have to worry about setting up transportation either!

3. Amenities

As I already mentioned, you get full exclusivity to the resort property and all of the amenities. One of my favorites being the infinity pool with views of the water. The pool has LED lights to light up the entire pool at night. The resort has 200 feet of private beach with an outdoor bar imported from Bali. Off from the private beach is walk-in access to the Bay for paddleboarding and kayaking. It was so fun paddleboarding out on the Bay and seeing manatees! Largo Resort also offers beach cruiser bicycles, pool floats, and beach games like cornhole. For relaxation and solitude, there is a meditation garden and a hammock overlooking the water perfect for napping or reading.

4. Scenery

Largo Resort is described as a “private sanctuary on the water” and that’s exactly what it is! It’s located on the bayside of Key Largo with a private dock and a sunset pier over the water. We had our wedding ceremony at the end of the pier underneath the custom-built driftwood arbor and it was an absolute dream.

The resort is surrounded by tropical landscaping and the property itself is so stunning. Everywhere you look is the perfect backdrop for a photo. It’s even beautiful at night, lit up by the moon and the string lights in the palm trees. Largo Resort is the perfect place to plan a destination wedding because it’s so picturesque on it’s own that you don’t even need a lot of décor.

5. Vendor Experience

If I haven’t fully convinced you yet, then I’ll end by saying Largo Resort is the best destination wedding venue in the Florida Keys because of their partnerships with preferred vendors. When planning a destination wedding, it is recommended to use vendors who are familiar with your venue. This will make your wedding day run a whole lot smoother when the people you’ve hired know what to do and where to go.

It can also be very overwhelming trying to choose vendors, especially when planning a destination wedding. Largo Resort provides you with a list of their trusted and recommended vendors from event planners and caterers to bands, DJs, and officiants. You can find a full list of Largo Resort’s preferred vendors here.

So to sum it up, if you’ve been dreaming of a tropical destination wedding in the Florida Keys, Largo Resort is the perfect place! I can confidently say it is the best wedding venue in the Florida Keys. Your wedding day will unforgettable for not only you, but also your guests.
